Friends underwater in wetsuits.

The irony of a wetsuit? It keeps you warm by keeping you wet!

A thin layer of water is trapped between you and your suit when it gets wet. This layer of water is warmed by your body heat to keep you warm. You’d be surprised at how cold open water temps can get—even 65 degrees can be a shock to your body!

Although they’re not easy to take on and off (especially in a hurry), wetsuits are ideal for surfing, diving, water skiing, kayaking, and more. In addition to hydrodynamics, wetsuits offer buoyancy, which is important if you’re competing in triathlons.
